The Atlanta Stove Works, a former pot-belly stove and iron-pan factory opened in 1889, and flourished in the 1920s when it began exporting the 32 BOX stove that sparked industrial demand and expansion.
After decades and decline Stove Works was abandoned around 1988 before being transformed into a mixed-use development of offices and restaurants, such as Rathbun’s, Bell Street Burritos & Krog Bar. Located adjacent to apartment complex, Alexan on Krog.
The Atlanta BeltLine is the most comprehensive transportation and economic development effort ever undertaken in the City of Atlanta and among the largest, most wide-ranging urban redevelopment programs currently underway in the United States. The Atlanta BeltLine is a sustainable redevelopment project that is transforming the city. It will ultimately connect 45 intown neighborhoods via a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails, modern streetcar, and parks – all based on railroad corridors that formerly encircled Atlanta. When completed, it will provide first and last mile connectivity for regional transportation initiatives and put Atlanta on a path to 21st century economic growth and sustainability.
The Eastside Trail runs directly next to Stove Works, and is now open. Stove Works is home to offices and restaurants that open directly onto the BeltLine, including the Atlanta BeltLine headquarters.
